Most Solid Surface worktops such as Corian, Karonia, Maia, Encore and Getacore have non-porous qualities and are approved for use in specialized environments, such as hospitals and laboratories. Their versatility allows them to be shaped, joined, and finished into a wide variety of designs.
Our Solid Surface Worktop installers provide on site fabrication. Joints can be made invisible by joining the relevant pieces of Solid Surface material with their own colour-matched two-part acrylic epoxy resin.
The pieces are joined and clamped together tightly much the same way as with laminate or wooden worktop. However Solid Surface worktops require a bead of adhesive to be left to cure. After the resin dries, the joined area is sanded, buffed and polished to create a seamless join.
Corian, Maia, Karonia, Encore and Getacore are manufactured in several different thicknesses: 6 mm,12 mm, 25mm and 34mm. Each cross-section cut of these materials show colour consistency and particulate patterning distributed evenly through the material. Any nicks and scratches can be polished out with a Scotch-Brite pad or orbital sander. They come in more than 100 colors and patterns.
